30 March 2017

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has updated today its list of recognised central counterparties (CCPs) based in third countries. Today’s update concerns the recognition of six non-EU central counterparties (CCPs).

ESMA recognised the following entities:

  • Dubai Commodities Clearing Corporation (DCCC);
  • Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL);
  • Nasdaq Dubai Ltd;
  • Japan Commodity Clearing House Co., Ltd (JCCH);
  • BM&FBovespa S.A., Brazil; and
  • Nodal Clearing LLC, USA.

The European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) requires third-country CCPs to be recognised by ESMA in order to operate in the European Union.
