ESMA confirms go-live for weekly commodity derivatives position reporting
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s financial markets regulator and supervisor, announces that the new weekly commodity derivatives position reporting framework will go live on 3 September 2026.
From this date, market participants will be required to submit weekly position reports in accordance with the updated requirements, technical specifications and validation rules introduced by XML schema version v2.0.
Following ESMA's original announcement and the decision to postpone the rollout, additional time has been dedicated to technical and operational preparations to support a smooth transition to the new reporting arrangements.
The updated technical documentation (reporting instructions and XML schema) is now available to support market participants in completing their implementation activities.
