ESMA updates its financial instrument reference database
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) released a new version of its Financial Instrument Reference Database (FIRDS) on 23 September 2019.
The updated version of the system includes new XML schemas v1.1.0 that are now the only version accepted by the system and updates to the CFI validation rules.
The latest versions of the reporting instructions, XML schemas and validation rules are available on ESMA website. Should the reporting entities need further assistance, they are advised to contact ESMA Support (support@esma.europa.eu).
Background
The FIRDS system was launched in July 2017 with the objective to support the requirements for reference data collection and publication introduced by the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MiFIR). Since its introduction, ESMA has proposed improvements and corrections to the system that are implemented in this maintenance release.
