Crowdfunding in the EU

Crowdfunding platforms offer a publicly accessible digital space where investors can explore and invest in various projects. This type of funding is important for SMEs, which often struggle to secure traditional bank financing. Crowdfunding serves as an important source of alternative finance and has the potential to support the development of the Savings and Investments Union. To monitor developments in this important area, ESMA has a mandate to develop and publish aggregated statistics on the EU crowdfunding market.
In January 2025, ESMA published its first annual market report on crowdfunding in the EU, based on data we receive from National Competent Authorities (NCAs). We are making the statistics from the report available through this interactive dashboard. Scroll down for the overview and the instructions to read the dashboard.
